After getting to the Dusseldorf HBF we had to catch yet another train
to Krefeld. Luckily we got in early enough were we were able to get a
seat on the local train we needed to catch.
We were both so tired that day, I think the jetlag was still lingering .
After, I think, a 40 minute train ride we arrived in Krefeld. We were
standing in the station talking to each other and this woman comes
running up and gives Niels a HUGE hug. I guessed that this was Ina,
Niels' Mom's really good friend from when Niels was little.
We spent the night with Ina and her husband Norbert. It had been
many years since Niels had seen them and their family so the evening
was spent catching up on everyone and having great conversation.
There were a couple points where I felt totally and completely lost
because I was so tired and I don't speak a word of German. But Norbert
was so excited to have someone to speak English with, he was very kind
and made sure that I was kept in the conversation.
That night we slept on the most comfortable beds ever, and this time I
mean it, I've never slept in a bed so soft and cozy.
(An aside, when Niels & I first started dating I would tease him
about his duvet, because I preferred the flat sheet and comforter, but
while in Germany I have to say I came to love the duvet and wish I had
one.)
